2015-2016 WBS SEASON

THE THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE
A 70'S MUSICAL

Directed by Diane DuBoise & David Chupp

Best friends from high school (in the 70s) got married to their sweethearts.  One couple, Bill and Jenny are still married, but their relationship is lukewarm at best.  Ted was married to Jane who passed away 10 years ago.  Ted has started dating a younger woman.  Ted’s son is marrying Bill and Jenny’s daughter.  The future bride, Jess, sees the wedding rehearsal as an opportunity to rekindle her parent’s romance.  The future groom, Ryan, sees it as a way to convince his dad that the new girlfriend is too young and all wrong for him.  Given the opportunity to come up with a “theme” for the rehearsal dinner, they decide to recreate the 70’s era when their parents fell in love. They also ask the parents to come to their counseling classes on the pretense of learning from their experiences, but this goes horribly wrong when old and new relationship problems are uncovered. The wedding rehearsal dinner takes place with a 70’s theme and 70's karaoke with a live band.  The different groups perform songs and dances for the bride and groom and after some missteps, Bill and Jenny and Ted and Heather reunite.

Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)

by John K. Alvarez, Michael Carleton & James FitzGerald

Directed by Rich Resler

Starring - Jon Brown, Mitch Resler and John Cardy

A ragtag trio of merry traveling thespians has once again found a temporary home at the Studio @ 620 for the holiday season. Only, instead of performing Dickens’ beloved holiday classic “A Christmas Carol” for the umpteenth time, they’ve decided to tackle every christmas story ever told (and then some…). Yule crack up as Santa Claus, Rudolph, the Grinch- and just about every other holiday character- make an appearance in this raucous comedy when three actors decide that rather than perform A Christmas Carol yet again, they’ll retell every Christmas story ever told in only 90 minutes! A madcap romp for the holiday season, this farce also features Christmas traditions from around the world plus every carol ever sung! With Frosty and Charlie Brown and George Bailey, you’ll laugh yourself all the way to the New Year!

ALMOST, MAINE
by John Cariani

Directed by Rich Resler

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a town that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States—it’s almost in Canada. And it almost doesn’t exist, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it’s just…Almost. One cold, clear Friday night in the middle of winter, while the northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. And life for the people of Almost, Maine will never be the same. ALMOST, MAINE: It’s love, but not quite.

DIXIE SWIM CLUB
by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten

Directed by Diane DuBoise

Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives, focusing on four of those weekends and spanning a period of thirty-three years. . As their lives unfold and the years pass, these women increasingly rely on one another, through advice and raucous repartee, to get through the challenges (men, sex, marriage, parenting, divorce, aging) that life flings at them. And when fate throws a wrench into one of their lives in the second act, these friends, proving the enduring power of "teamwork", rally 'round their own with the strength and love that takes this comedy in a poignant and surprising direction.
