The Story
An eclectic group of six eccentric middle schoolers vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. As they candidly share hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through increasingly challenging words, all while hoping never to hear the soul-crushing bell that signals elimination.
Winner of the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, this fast-paced, wildly funny, and surprisingly heartfelt musical has charmed audiences nationwide with its effortless wit and vibrant energy. Featuring a book by Rachel Sheinkin and a fresh, spirited score by William Finn, Spelling Bee is an unforgettable theatrical experience filled with humor, poignancy, and even a bit of audience participation.
Six spellers enter; one speller wins.
At least the losers get a juice box!
