The Whole Backstage to Host Concert of SAND MOUNTAIN JAZZ on August 1

The Whole Backstage Theatre will host the SAND MOUNTAIN JAZZ for its first public concert on August 1 at 7:00 in the Dot Moore Auditorium. There is no admission charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. All money collected will benefit area students and music programs in need of small financial support.
Formed under the direction of Albertville Middle School Band Director Nathan Haskew, this ensemble began as a creative fundraising idea to support the Douglas High School Band, which has been selected to represent Alabama at Pearl Harbor’s 80th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony this December 7th in Hawaii.
“What a wonderful way to involve musicians and especially band directors—both active and retired—in a meaningful performance outlet,” says Johnny Brewer, band member and event sponsor. “It sets a great example for their students to see their teachers back on stage as performers.”
​SAND MOUNTAIN JAZZ features talented local musicians from across Marshall County and surrounding communities—all with deep roots on Sand Mountain. “Our vision is for this group to become a staple at local events, sharing the timeless sounds of classic jazz throughout the region.”, says band leader and organizer Nathen Haskew.

​​With a traditional big band sound, reminiscent of legends like TOMMY DORSEY and GLENN MILLER, this group is sure to please crowds of all ages.

SAND MOUNTAIN JAZZ takes the stage around 7:00 P.M for an hour and 15 minutes of timeless jazz standards including:
In the Mood, Birdland, Fly Me to the Moon, Route 66, Stompin’ at the Savoy, and more.

Doors open at 6:30 PM. Seating is general admission and first come, first served.
