The Things We Do for Love
A 70s Musical
Directed by Diane DuBoise & David Chupp
Best friends from high school (in the 70s) got married to their sweethearts. One couple, Bill and Jenny are still married, but their relationship is lukewarm at best. Ted was married to Jane who passed away 10 years ago. Ted has started dating a younger woman. Ted’s son is marrying Bill and Jenny’s daughter. The future bride, Jess, sees the wedding rehearsal as an opportunity to rekindle her parent’s romance. The future groom, Ryan, sees it as a way to convince his dad that the new girlfriend is too young and all wrong for him. Given the opportunity to come up with a “theme” for the rehearsal dinner, they decide to recreate the 70’s era when their parents fell in love. They also ask the parents to come to their counseling classes on the pretense of learning from their experiences, but this goes horribly wrong when old and new relationship problems are uncovered. The wedding rehearsal dinner takes place with a 70’s theme and 70's karaoke with a live band. The different groups perform songs and dances for the bride and groom and after some missteps, Bill and Jenny and Ted and Heather reunite.
