Agatha Christies
Ten Little Indians
Ira Levin writes of Agatha Christie
that her mysteries are cleanly written and masterfully surprising. No playwright except
Christie has given us more than one great stage mystery.
The WBS has given you The
Mousetrap, Go Back for Murder and Appointment With Death. In July, Rusty
Ogden will hold auditions for her fourth Christie mystery.
The nursery rhyme "Ten Little
Indians", sets the scene for murder. But not just one murder. There are enough in
this play to keep you guessing as to not only "who done it" but "whos
next". Ten strangers are invited, by an unknown host, to spend the weekend on an
island off the coast of Devon. Each, in turn, are accused of murder by a mysterious voice,
the guests are exchanging information about themselves and their host, when one of ten
little Indian figurines, sitting on the fireplace, topples off the mantle and breaks --
and immediately one of the guests dies! One down and nine to go -- or are there? The
excitement never lets up until the final curtain.
This play requires eleven people.
