Cast and Comments

Read a few comments from the cast members themselves about their
adventures in the show so far.

Dot Moore, Director |
Johnny,
I have been hoping to direct NOISES OFF
ever since I read about it in Time Magazine when it was first on Broadway in
the 80”s. I had even planned to do it on our small old stage, but am glad I
now can do it on our big renovated one, where we can have a large two-story
set. Rehearsals for the play have been so much fun, and very strenuous. The
cast has brought a scale to the theatre and plans to announce in the program
how many pounds they have collectively lost, running up and down the three
stairways, and in and out of the 8 doors. I know our audiences will have as
much fun watching as we have had preparing.

Johnny,
How much fun am I having?
I am having so much fun running around like a chicken with his head cut
off...it's not even funny...;-)
I think I'll lose around 20 pounds when this thing is over......
Honestly, though, it's been great fun so far, I can only imagine how much
fun the actual performance's will be...
What am I getting out of this?
A greater appreciation for those who have done this play in the past. Also,
a very real sense of camaraderie working with this cast. Everyone has been
so welcoming to me, that I feel like I've worked with them before, many,
many times. Plus, I've never had so many desirable properties to hug and
kiss on before....Ain't acting grand...
Thanks,
John Seigh "Lloyd"

Hey Johnny,
I am not sure which is more exhausting, laughing 'til we hurt or running up
and down stairs 'til our legs ache. This show has been a lot of fun to
rehearse. It definitely a learning experience in the art of physical humor
and comedic timing. Between laughing at the script and laughing at each
other, "This is getting farcical."

Chellee Bailey "Belinda/Flavia" |
Johnny,
Rehearsals with the cast of "Noises Off!" are full of action and hilarity!
The show has already proven to be quite challenging physically, causing
rehearsals to become hysterically unpredictable and so much fun!
I love being with this group of people! I am really thankful for this
opportunity to "work" with such a great team! :0)

Johnny,
How Much Fun? Noises Off is a blast!
Quickly becoming one of my favorite shows.
What I've Learned? Farce is all about timing and execution.

Christopher K. Carter Selsdon/Burglar |
Hello Johnny!!
"This show has to be performed like a
well-oiled machine. I have learned quickly, with this show in particular,
how important every word of the author's text is. During this show, for the
most part...if one word or action is left out, it could throw the
action/dialogue/choreography of the rest of the show out of whack.
But it has been one of the most fun
experiences for me theatrically to work with such a group of fun, talented
and crazy actors".

Hey Johnny,
I'm having a blast with doing Noises Off.
It's exciting to have a show that I look forward to going to every
rehearsal. I just can't wait till we have an audience. This is possibly the
most physical show I have ever done and
I've been in my fair share of musicals. It's a lot of really hard work with
running around and getting our timing right but it all is worth it. This is
one of my favorite shows and I am really jazzed to be a part of it.

Jon Brown " Tim" |
Johnny,
Working on this show has been quite an experience. Your timing has to be
precise, one wrong move can change completely everything! With such
physical comedy, I believe everyone in the cast will have some sort of
injury by the time this show closes.

Dianne Creel
"Dotty/Mrs Clackett" |
Hey Honey Bunny,
Thoughts from Dianne Creel / Dotty:
A veritable Rubik's Cube of a play! More fun than a hall of mirrors! Full of
side-splitting laughter, this show is comically charged with doors,
sardines, dropping trousers and sexual peccadilloes. Like Double mint Gum...
two, two, two sets in one. The funniest play on 18 legs!

Kayla Haney
"Brooke/Vicki" |
Hey!!!
How much fun: I'm having the time of my
life! The show is funny to watch but more fun than I ever imagined to do. I
laugh more every rehearsal.
What I've learned: Theatre is all about doors and sardines!

Synopsis:
“The show recounts the misadventures of a troupe of fifth-rate actors as
they perform a sex farce titled NOTHING ON during a flea-bag provincial
tour. The plot of NOTHING ON involves a ditzy maid in an English country
house, a wayward plate of sardines, an illicit couple dodging the
taxman, a sheik and a bibulous burglar. Doors slam (the set contains 7
of them) and trousers drop with dizzying abandon.
In theatre language, noises off refers to commotion in the wings. The
noises off are the backstage yelps and battle cries of the actors, who
are entangled in a sex farce of their own. Frayn’s most novel stroke is
to set the second act behind the set at a performance of NOTHING ON.
While the players on the far side of the scenery invisibly sing out
their lines, those on the near side conduct a frenzied pantomime with a
wine bottle, a cactus plant, bouquets of flowers, a fireman’s ax,
shoelaces tied together and assorted other slapstick paraphernalia.”
