Synopsis:
After twenty-three years of marriage Barney Cashman has decided
that he wants something more. Cashman decides he needs a little
excitement in his predictable existence.
Enter Elaine, a hard
drinking femme fatale; Bobbie, an unemployed nightclub singer
and Jeanette, Barney's wife's best friend. Barney's attempts to
seduce these wildly unsuitable candidates in three afternoons in his Mother's apartment.
The circumstances provide rich
opportunities for the sharp and snappy humor of which Neil Simon
is such a master. Behind plentiful laughs is the tender
portrayal of a decent man who just can’t succeed in sinning.
