Hi Johnny, Thanks for the opportunity to share my latest information. I hope all is well with you and family in this new year 2001! And best wishes on OKLAHOMA! Lynn and I talk every nite online, she is a dear friend to me. Ok, so. . . here goes.I am currently living and working in NYC as a professional actor/singer. I am a member of Actors' Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the US. I am currently in rehearsals for a new musical called ANIMAL FAIR by Clark Gesner, who wrote the hit Broadway musical YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN. This production of ANIMAL FAIR, is making it's East coast premiere in Brooklyn, NYC on February 17-March 4. It's a very interesting if not down bizarre musical about animals and their incidences in life and relation to humans and our environment. It is not fluffy at all, in fact it is very dramatic and funny at times as well. The music is wonderful and Mr. Gesner is a joy to be working with. There are plans to record an original cast album of ANIMAL FAIR. Hopefully this show will get me an agent. Aside from this show, I'm also in rehearsals for a staged reading in NYC of a new musical called HOUDINI. I sang on a demo recording of this musical in October and producers have been very receptive to this new project. HOUDINI is based on the life and times of Harry Houdini. I think it has great potential and we'll know more next week when the reading is presented to various Broadway producers and agents. Who knows, it could be the next Broadway hit! Keep your fingers crossed. Some other recent credits were the SHOWBOAT National Tour, two productions of MAME w/ Carol Lawrence and T.V.'s Loretta Swit(aka Hot Lips from M.A.S.H.), and the lead role in KISS OF THE SPIDERWOMAN, which is my favorite role to date! As for my time at the WBS: I did my first show ever at the WBS, it was MAN OF LA MANCHA in 1993. Prior to that, I'd never had any experience w/theatre. That summer was great for me, as a person and as an aspiring artist. I was so awestruck at the people I shared the stage with. I learned so much from Dot Moore that summer. It was a great experience. After that, I played the Scarecrow in WIZARD OF OZ, then Benny Southstreet in GUYS AND DOLLS, then my last role at WBS was Jonathan Brewster in ARSENIC AND OLD LACE. All my times and roles at the WBS were so much fun and the feeling of family was always so everpresent. As for my contributions to the WBS, I think I lent a sense of youth ,of course, to the theatre. And I hope that I instilled some good work ethics for other younger actors as well. Theatre is, I think, one of if not the highest, form of discipline. It was also a very important support system for me at a relatively unstable point in my life. Once again the WBS family was there for me, when I felt unstable and misunderstood elsewhere. I am really grateful for my times and roles at the WBS. It was a great place to give me a start w/ my talents and ideas. I thank all the people there who have helped me on my way to NYC where my dreams and goals are. Thank you all, you know who you are!Well, Johnny, I guess that's about it? If anything is not specific enough, though I can't imagine it not being, as I ramble so much, let me know! I've attached a current headshot for the website as well.Best wishes, Kristoffer Lowe |
