DEATHTRAP, the second play of the 2002-2003 Whole Backstage season, opens October 25 at 7:30 PM, in time for your Halloween chills and thrills.  The thriller, by Ira Levin, author of ROSEMARY’S BABY, will continue its 6 performance run on the 26

th at 7:30, the 27th at 2 PM, and Oct. 31, Nov. 1 and 2 at 7:30.

The cast features Errol Allan, Doug Niezwaag, Natasha Duboise, Michelle Free and Jeff Stone, and is directed by Dot Moore, assisted by Tommy and Glenda Austin.

The ingeniously constructed play offers a skillful blending of gasp-inducing thrills and spontaneous laughter.  It deals with the devious machinations of a writer of thrillers, Sidney Bruhl, whose recent plays have been flops, and who is prepared to go to any lengths to have another success.  A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives, from a writing student, a script which he decides has the potential to be a Broadway hit.  Sidney’s plan, devised despite his wife’s horror, is to offer to collaborate with the student and then kill him and steal his script.  Thereafter, suspense mounts steadily as the plot begins to twist and turn with devilish cleverness and shocking surprises.

Cue magazine said, “Two-thirds a thriller and one-third a devilishly clever comedy, .Suspend your disbelief and be delighted.  Scream a little…it’s good for you.  Call 582-7469 for reservations during business hours after October 14th
